There are not too many kinds of oil in my kitchen. Extra virgin olive oil is king in my house, and if I need something with less flavor for a particular recipe I usually reach for butter.
I prefer using extra virgin olive oil in all aspects of my cooking. There are very fancy, very expensive and very flavorful extra virgin olive oils out there that absolutely should not be heated and are best as finishing oils, however most grocery store options are entirely suitable for cooking. They have better health benefits, and impart better flavor than pure olive oils.
